Our client is a prominent single-family office with a multi-asset investment strategy and a diversified international portfolio spanning sectors across both private and public equities. As they deploy more capital, they are seeking top-tier talent to join their team in the Middle East.
About role:
This individual will play a key role in managing and developing the firm's MENA public equities platform. Reporting directly to the Head of MENA Investments, the role combines hands-on portfolio management, investment strategy development, and external manager selection, with responsibility across idea generation, portfolio monitoring, and investment execution.
In addition to public markets, the role offers select exposure to private equity investments in the MENA region, primarily through investment analysis and portfolio monitoring.
Responsibilities:
Public Equities Portfolio Management:
- Manage and monitor a portfolio of MENA-listed equities across key regional markets
- Track performance, risk exposures, sector and factor allocations, and macro sensitivities
- Assess valuation, fundamentals, and catalysts across existing and prospective holdings
- Support portfolio construction, position sizing, and rebalancing decisions in collaboration with risk and quantitative teams, ensuring alignment with portfolio risk and return objectives
Investment Strategy & Research:
- Contribute to the development and ongoing refinement of the MENA public equities investment strategy
- Conduct bottom-up fundamental equity research and top-down thematic analysis
- Monitor regional macroeconomic, geopolitical, and regulatory developments affecting MENA markets
- Translate research and market views into actionable investment ideas
External Manager Selection & Oversight:
- Support the identification, due diligence, and selection of external public equity managers focused on MENA markets
- Analyse manager performance, style consistency, risk exposures, and potential drift
- Maintain ongoing relationships with selected managers and contribute to periodic review processes
Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting:
- Prepare investment memoranda, portfolio reviews, and materials for Investment Committee discussions
- Produce regular and ad-hoc reporting for internal stakeholders, including performance attribution and risk analysis
- Contribute to broader portfolio-level analytics and cross-asset reporting initiatives
Private Equity Exposure (Secondary Focus):
- Support investment analysis and portfolio monitoring of selected private equity investments in the MENA region
- Assist with valuation updates, performance tracking, and investment reviews
- Provide analytical input on new opportunities where relevant, without being execution-led
Experience & Background:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in asset management or institutional investing in:
o Public equities portfolio management, or
o Fundamental equity research with direct portfolio responsibility within an asset manager, hedge fund, sovereign wealth fund, or family office
- Demonstrable exposure to MENA equity markets strongly preferred
- Experience interacting with or allocating to external fund managers is a plus
