We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to design, implement, and manage PostgreSQL environments across UAT, Production, and Disaster Recovery (DR) setups. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in High Availability (HA), replication, backup & recovery, security, and performance monitoring. This is a contract-based position for 6 months, with an immediate joining requirement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Database Design & Implementation
- Architect, deploy, and maintain PostgreSQL environments for UAT, Production, and DR.
- Ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of database systems.
- Configure schemas, storage, and database parameters according to project needs.
2. High Availability & Disaster Recovery
- Set up and maintain High Availability (HA) environments with manual failover.
- Implement and manage DR replication strategies.
- Conduct periodic DR drills to validate recovery processes and readiness.
3. Backup & Recovery Strategy
- Design and implement comprehensive backup and recovery plans.
- Automate backup scheduling and manage retention policies.
- Validate recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
4. Security, Monitoring & Auditing
- Enforce role-based access controls, database encryption, and secure authentication.
- Implement monitoring solutions for replication lag, performance, and uptime tracking.
- Configure database auditing and logging mechanisms to ensure compliance.
5. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Develop detailed documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain configuration, operational, and maintenance documentation.
- Conduct knowledge transfer and training sessions for internal teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a PostgreSQL DBA with expertise in HA, replication, and DR.
- Technical Proficiency:
- PostgreSQL installation, configuration, tuning, and optimization.
- HA tools: Patroni, repmgr, pgPool-II, or equivalent.
- DR replication: Streaming replication, logical replication.
- Backup tools: pgBackRest, Barman, or custom scripting.
- Security: Role-based access control, SSL/TLS encryption.
- Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, pgAdmin, or similar platforms.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and documentation skills, effective communication, and ability to train and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
