Position Overview
We are seeking a highly accomplished Principal Public Health & Fire Engineer to join our Dubai office. The successful candidate will serve as the technical authority for all aspects of public health engineering (water supply, drainage, wastewater systems, fuel systems) and fire protection design (active fire systems) across major high-rise, mixed-use, commercial, hospitality, and large-scale developments.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for leading project delivery, driving technical excellence, managing multidisciplinary coordination, and ensuring that all designs comply with local authority regulations, international standards, and best-practice engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full public health and fire engineering design for major projects from concept through detailed design and IFC stages.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on all public health systems, including domestic water services, drainage, stormwater, fuel systems, water storage, pumping systems, and specialist PHE systems.
- Lead the design of fire protection systems, including sprinklers, standpipes, hydrants, water mist, FM-200, inert gas systems, fire pumps, and related active systems.
- Ensure full compliance with UAE authority requirements, including Dubai Municipality, DEWA, DCD, and local utilities.
- Oversee the preparation of calculations, hydraulic modelling, design reports, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
- Drive technical innovation to improve system efficiency, sustainability, and constructability.
- Collaborate closely with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and specialist teams to deliver integrated and coordinated engineering solutions.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submissions, and technical documentation during design and post-contract stages.
- Engage with clients, present design proposals, and ensure project expectations are met.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to public health and fire engineers within the team.
- Ensure high technical standards through quality reviews and adherence to Meinhardt's design governance processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Public Health Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of professional experience, with substantial experience in the UAE and GCC market.
- Demonstrated experience leading public health and fire protection design for high-rise, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use, and large technical projects.
- Deep knowledge of UAE authority regulations (Dubai Municipality, DCD, DDA, Trakhees, ADM, etc.).
- Strong understanding of international standards (NFPA, BS/EN, IPC, UPC, ASPE design standards).
- Strong experience in preparing design reports, hydraulic calculations, and system sizing.
- Advanced proficiency with engineering design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, WaterCAD, PipeFlow, and HydraCAD (or equivalent).
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.

- Experience working within a major multidisciplinary consultancy in the GCC.
