Senior/Principle Embedded Software Engineer:
- Experience in Design, develop and maintain low-level software for embedded systems. The role involves working closely with hardware, developing bare-metal and/or RTOS-based software, integrating drivers and peripherals, and ensuring deterministic, reliable, and high-performance software behaviour.
- The ideal candidate has strong C/C++ skills, a solid understanding of microcontrollers and real-time constraints.
- Expecting a well-experienced professional in the field of software engineering and being skilled in guiding a team towards technical solutions. Leading a team in software systems and subsystem design, coding, evaluation and testing and reporting. Exposure classification and certification of software.
- NOTE: For this job description, the term software implies both PC-based and/or embedded software.
- Provide guidance to software engineering teams including senior engineers towards innovative and complex software solutions, while ensuring the timeous delivery of quality software.
- Provide guidance to design teams w.r.t. technical specification of software design especially considering international standards, practices, and certification, e.g. MIL-STDs, IEC/IEEE standards, RTCA standards, Unified Modelling Language (UML), System Modelling Language (SysML), etc.
- Should Set an example of him/herself by timeously delivering working code that satisfies requirements, and which is in compliance with company software quality and coding standards, configuration management practices, etc.
- Should Set an example and provide guidance to technical design teams regarding evaluation, testing practices and methods, and coding.
- Propose, obtain buy-in and implement sound and advanced engineering practices. Set high standards in the development of Software Requirement Specifications, Software Design Documents and Interface Control Specifications, utilizing (amongst others) static and behavioral software models.
- Provide leadership in the generation and review of engineering software models and documentation. Organize and chair design reviews and provide constructive inputs.
- Mentor and train senior and junior technical personnel.
- Provide inputs to management regarding future company software requirements and needs. Assist in the generation of a company technology horizon plan that includes resources and software development tools.
- Provide guidance in terms of new software architecture, as well as improvements in the existing architecture through software refactoring and identification of candidate components for sharing and re-use.
- Very strong technical skill, as well as the ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to both junior and senior engineers
- Clear communication skills that advance cohesion and enthusiasm amongst team members, management and customers
- Demonstrate the ability to take accountability for short-term operations. Should be able to assist in longer term planning for the expansion of technical ability
- Knowledge of best practices, engineering standards and development methodologies applicable to the defense industry.
- Thorough understanding of the systems engineering process (Requirements, analysis, design, integration, verification, certification and configuration management).
- Ability to quickly grasp the technical complexities of a project, as well as the ability to provide guidance to a team towards a solution.
Experience:
- 15 years experience in the software engineering domain
- At least 5 years experience in the certification/classification methodology of software.
