Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the incumbent will play a key role in managing the procurement process for civil and fit-out projects. The Procurement Engineer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, subcontract packages, and services in line with project specifications, budget, and timelines.
You will collaborate closely with the engineering, planning, commercial, and site teams to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials while maintaining cost efficiency and compliance with project requirements. Your focus will be on technical evaluation, commercial comparison, supplier coordination, and ensuring uninterrupted project execution.
Responsibilities:
- Review project drawings, BOQs, and specifications to identify procurement requirements and develop procurement schedules aligned with the project program.
- Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers and subcontractors for civil and fit-out works. Maintain and update the approved vendor list.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) with clear technical and commercial requirements to suppliers and subcontractors.
- Conduct detailed technical and commercial analysis of quotations. Prepare comparison sheets and recommendations for management approval.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contract conditions to achieve cost-effective procurement solutions.
- Handle procurement of subcontract packages related to civil works, interior fit-out, joinery, gypsum, flooring, ceilings, glass, aluminum, and other finishing works.
- Coordinate with site and planning teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and prevent project delays.
- Follow up on material submittals and approvals in coordination with consultants and project teams.
- Support cost-saving initiatives and value engineering proposals without compromising quality and specifications.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, LPOs, comparison statements, and supplier performance reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- A minimum of 47 years of experience in procurement for civil and fit-out projects
- Strong knowledge of local suppliers and subcontractors in the UAE market.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Strong negotiation and commercial evaluation skills.
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel); ERP system experience is an advantage.
- Must be currently based in UAE.
