About the Role Procurement Engineer (MEP)
The Procurement Engineer MEP will manage the end-to-end procurement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing materials and systems for multiple construction projects. The role requires technical expertise, vendor management skills, and the ability to coordinate with engineering and project teams to ensure timely delivery, compliance, and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement of MEP materials, equipment, and subcontracted services
- Procure MEP items such as HVAC systems, chillers, ducts, cables, switchgear, pumps, lighting, generators, and plumbing & firefighting systems
- Review MEP BOQs, drawings, specifications, and material submittals prior to procurement
- Prepare and process Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs)
- Float RFQs/RFPs, evaluate technical and commercial offers, and negotiate pricing and delivery terms
- Source, evaluate, and finalize approved MEP vendors and subcontractors
- Coordinate with MEP engineers, project managers, consultants, and site teams to align procurement with construction schedules
- Track order status, manufacturing progress, deliveries, and site handover
- Ensure materials comply with approved specifications, quality standards, and authority requirements
- Monitor procurement costs and support budget control and value engineering initiatives
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation, records, and reports
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, procedures, and audit requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- 510 years of experience in MEP procurement within construction or real estate development companies
- Experience in large-scale MEP packages for residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects
- UAE / GCC experience is preferred
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, materials, and procurement practices
- Ability to interpret MEP BOQs, drawings, and technical specifications
- Proven experience in vendor sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management
- Familiarity with ERP / procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar)
- Strong coordination, follow-up, and stakeholder management skills
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality, cost, and delivery timelines
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
