Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Production Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of technical and on-site production for live events. The role requires a deep understanding of event production systems, hands-on technical knowledge, and strong site management skills to ensure seamless delivery of events from concept through completion.
The Role
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all production elements of an event, including technical planning, vendor coordination, crew management, and on-site execution. This role acts as the central point of contact between creative teams, clients, technical suppliers, and on-site crews, ensuring that events are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Production & Planning
- Develop detailed production plans, schedules, and technical requirements for events
- Conduct site visits, technical surveys, and feasibility assessments
- Coordinate with creative, design, and project teams to translate concepts into technical solutions
- Prepare technical drawings, layouts, and production timelines
- Source, negotiate, and manage technical vendors and suppliers
- Plan power requirements, rigging, staging, lighting, audio, video, and special effects
On-Site & Event Execution
- Lead on-site production operations including load-in, rehearsals, show days, and load-out
- Manage technical crews, supervisors, and runners on-site
- Ensure all technical setups comply with approved designs and safety standards
- Oversee equipment installation, testing, and operation
- Act as the primary decision-maker on-site for technical and production matters
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical or logistical issues in real time
Safety, Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and local authority regulations
- Conduct risk assessments and method statements
- Maintain high production quality and technical standards throughout the event
- Ensure safe working practices for all crew and contractors
Budget & Administration
- Manage production budgets and track costs
- Approve technical quotations and invoices
- Identify cost-effective solutions without compromising quality
- Maintain production documentation and post-event reports
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Production Manager in the events industry
- Strong technical knowledge across lighting, audio, video, staging, power, and rigging
- Extensive hands-on site experience with live events
- Proven ability to manage multiple vendors, crews, and stakeholders
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight timelines
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
