Job Description

Responsible for creating maintenance schedules and implementing the plan to ensure tasks are being accomplished within the downtime and with available resources by achieving the target schedule, within quality standards and ensuring improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance (A&P License )FAA A&P certificate or equivalent preferred.

Must have thorough knowledge on use of common tools, special tools, hardware, and equipment's used in aviation maintenance.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5+ years of related experience with at least 4 years in aviation maintenance planning.

Knowledge of aircraft launching and recovering processes.

Knowledge of military aircraft maintenance planning operations.

Knowledge of using aircraft manuals and documentations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Follows the day-to-day operations related to current position to ensure continuity of work in the base.

2. Oversees and schedules short term out of phases tasks and components removal and replacement to ensure optimization of manpower and aircraft ground time for maintenance

3. Creates work packages compiling maintenance tasks as describes in the Approved Maintenance Schedule for action at specific time periods ground time, determined from Maintenance Plans and PBL (Performance based Logistics) Contract

4. Monitors the progress of the maintenance with reference to the agreed schedule to ensure plan adherence to schedules

5. Monitors the progress of the maintenance with reference to the agreed schedule and builds Gant Charts as required

6. Demands the pre-load materials in the system for scheduled maintenance

7. Participates in Pre-Inductions meetings with stake holders for follow up on the pre-requirements for the maintenance plan and coordinates with stakeholder material support requirements for routine maintenance.

8. Coordinates with Supply Chain for Long and Short Term items OOP (Out of Phases) and components removals

9. Develops and maintains crew-board when applicable

10. Reports maintenance progress when applicable

11. Ensures all reports are built and maintained and distributed as required

12. Maintains regular contact with technical department of all GAL customers to remain abreast of any technical difficulties that arise on the aircraft being supported.

13. Attends conferences, workshops, etc. as necessary to remain abreast of the technical advances in the field of aviation with respect to the customers aircraft being supported by GAL.

14. Stimulates subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of section systems, processes and practices taking into account international best practice, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement

15. Supervises the preparation of timely and accurate departmental MIS statements and reports of GAL to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards

16. Ensures compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude

17. Recommends an optimum organization structure for the Engineering Management section so that resources are optimally utilized and communication can take place in an efficient manner

18. Prepares budget and monitors financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.

19. Manages full compliance with Audit, Risk and quality standards so that all employees satisfactorily meet and receive sign off from quality and Internal Audit requirements and investigations

20. Leads and manages the department by overseeing the staff's performance, recruitment, training and development to ensure high levels of engagement and competence

21. Monitors and advises on departmental training needs and lead interactions with the HR function to provide appropriate training provision so that all employees have the required user capability to enable delivery of functional/ departmental objectives.

22. Motivates one's own team and identifies opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect international best practice and changes in the competitive environment.

23. Oversees improvements to departmental policies and directs the implementation of procedures and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.

OTHER FACTORS

Must have good knowledge of Special Operations mission requirements, equipment and maintenance programs.

Must have strong program management background with a good understanding of contract law and terminology used in aviation contracts.

Must have a good working knowledge of all computer applications.

Must have strong charismatic and delegating attributes.

Must work well with other departments.
