Job Description

About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer (Technical Control) to support our Buildings Projects within the IDI Department. The ideal candidate will serve as a Structural Design Reviewer, providing strong technical control and ensuring compliance across design, construction, and inspection phases.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Specialty

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Specialization in Technical Control for Building Projects (Structural Design Reviewer)

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural design or design review
  • Strong background in concrete and steel structures
  • Broad technical knowledge in construction projects

Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of structural engineering principles and diversified construction disciplines
  • Proficient in engineering analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAFE)
  • Familiar with building envelope systems (curtain walls, waterproofing, faade stone cladding, etc.)
  • Strong report-writing and communication skills
  • Fluent in English and Arabic
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office tools

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Project Duties

  • Prepare RDx Reports for IDI
  • Coordinate with clients to obtain missing documents
  • Review Structural Designs (concrete and steel) and building envelope systems
  • Produce comprehensive Design Review Reports
  • Review construction-related documentation (materials, test reports, etc.)
  • Conduct site inspections and prepare inspection reports
  • Verify and correct inspection reports prepared by junior staff
  • Manage, mentor, and train lower-level engineers or inspectors as needed
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the direct manager

Decision-Making & Technical Expertise

  • Evaluate structural non-conformities and recommend corrective actions
  • Interpret inspection results and provide technical judgments
  • Apply relevant codes and standards (preferably SBC)

Business & Communication Skills

  • Strong reporting and communication capabilities
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Business awareness and professional acumen

QHSSE Responsibilities

  • Implement and support BV safety programs
  • Comply with all applicable HSE policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free work area
  • Immediately report hazards, faults, or unsafe conditions
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability
  • Protect personal and team health and safety at all times
