Job Description

The Project Engineer supports the technical planning, implementation, and continuous optimization of Bus Operations. This role ensures the seamless execution of daily services, adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and compliance with regulatory standards set by internal management and public transport authorities. The Project Engineer acts as a bridge between technical engineering requirements and on-ground fleet operations to maximize efficiency and service quality.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Planning & Fleet Optimization

  • Assist with project planning, resource allocation, and scheduling to align with operational demands.
  • Analyze route performance data to propose solutions for route optimization and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department to ensure preventive maintenance schedules do not disrupt service coverage.
  • Monitor fleet dispatching protocols and support live service resolution.

Stakeholder Management & Technical Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between internal teams (operations, fleet, IT) and external stakeholders (transport authorities in the UAE/ME region, service providers).
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for client meetings, operational reviews, and performance audits.
  • Ensure timely communication of project updates, technical requirements, and changes to all relevant parties.

Data Analysis, Reporting & Systems

  • Monitor operational KPIs and system performance, coordinating with technical teams for issue resolution
  • Maintain accurate documentation of operations, incidents, and software maintenance logs.
  • Analyze operational data to support capacity planning and service frequency adjustments.

Quality Assurance, HSE & Compliance

  • Ensure all operations comply with guidelines set by public transport authorities in the UAE or ME region, safety standards, and contractual deliverables.
  • Monitor customer service protocols, safety procedures, and support quality audits and incident investigations.
  • Participate in safety briefings and ensure frontline teams follow proper practices.

Resource Management & Procurement

  • Support procurement requests, coordination with vendors, and oversight of equipment and materials.
  • Maintain documentation folders, project trackers, action logs, and meeting minutes.
  • Assist in onboarding new staff and supporting training activities.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation Management, Engineering, or a related field is desirable.

Experience:

  • 24 years of experience in project coordination, mobility operations, or public transport is required.
  • Strong understanding of bus operations, dispatching, and fleet management.
  • Experience working with public transport authorities in the UAE or Middle East region is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under time pressure.
  • Data Analytics: Ability to analyze operational data and prepare accurate reports.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), mobility platforms, and reporting tools.
  • Teamwork: Strong teamwork skills and ability to support frontline operations.

Working Conditions

  • Role requires flexibility to work shifts or weekends depending on operational needs.
  • Regular field visits and monitoring of live operations may be required.
  • Fast-paced, customer-facing environment with coordination across multiple teams.
