Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing Data Centre projects within the Special Projects portfolio. The role ensures delivery within approved timelines, budgets, quality, and HSE requirements — aligning all construction and engineering activities with company standards, regulatory codes, and project objectives. The Project Manager oversees day-to-day project execution, contractor performance, and stakeholder coordination, ensuring issues are proactively identified, risks mitigated, and deliverables achieved in line with programme goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning & Execution:


· Plan, manage, and deliver projects from inception to handover, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality targets.


· Develop detailed project execution plans aligned with programme strategy and delivery requirements.


· Coordinate design development, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities across disciplines.


· Monitor progress using approved schedules, dashboards, and earned value metrics; escalate risks and delays proactively.


· Lead regular site and progress meetings with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.


Project Delivery Execution:


· Oversee daily site execution to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and HSE standards.


· Supervise contractor performance, resolve field issues, and ensure timely completion of milestones.


· Drive QA/QC reviews and ensure closeout of NCRs, punch lists, and technical queries.


· Support value engineering and constructability reviews to optimize cost, time, and performance.


Performance Monitoring & Reporting: 


· Prepare and present periodic project reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to the Project Director and programme leadership. 


· Track key delivery KPIs (schedule adherence, cost variance, risk exposure, HSE compliance). 


· Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to the enhancement of project management systems and practices. 


· Support the line manager in preparing and managing project budgets, cost forecasts, and change requests.


Risk and Quality Management:


· Identify, assess, and manage delivery risks through robust risk registers; implement mitigation strategies to prevent delays, safety hazards, or time and cost overruns.


· Ensure that delivery activities comply with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and environmental standards.


· Conduct regular site inspections and audits to evaluate delivery performance


· Review contractor claims, variation orders, and progress payments for validation.


· Ensure proper documentation and adherence to contract terms and conditions.


Stakeholder Management


· Maintain positive working relationships with government departments, utilities, and programme and project stakeholders, to ensure mutual support and compliance with delivery requirements.


· Regularly liaise and engage with the programme and project teams to offer support and ensure that project delivery and performance are aligned with the required standards and practices.


· Develop strategic relationships with Consultants, Contractors and Sub-Contractors and Vendors & Equipment Providers with a view to ensure successful delivery outcomes and maintain positive relationships.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications: 


· Relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent 


· Relevant professional qualification or chartered status 


Minimum Experience: 


· 7+ years of relevant professional experience (including previous director role), including the delivery of data centers or other complex engineering projects across the entire project life cycle. 


Job-Specific Skills (Generic / Technical): 


· Primavera P6, BIM 360, MS Project, AutoCAD, Revit, Procore


· Deep knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations § Risk management and lifecycle planning 


· Strategic leadership and decision-making under pressure 


· Cross-functional stakeholder engagement and influence 


· Financial and commercial acumen with TCO awareness 


· Crisis management, reporting, and governance participation
