Job Description

Manages University Projects.

  • To oversee, coordinate, and ensure the effective planning, execution, and monitoring of capital and facility-related projects at the University, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational goals.

  • The role involves acting as the liaison between the university stakeholders and external consultants, defining project scopes, timelines, and outcomes, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and according to institutional requirements, with strict adherence to safety, quality, and documentation standards.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Represent the facility needs of the colleges and departments to the consultant. Ensure that university departments receive and provide timely and thorough responses to FMD and consultant requests for information or specification reviews.
  • Communicate with university management on the status of the University's requested space requirements that have been included in or excluded from the most current new campus facilities designs.
  • Maintain regular contact with the consultant to define the scope of projects and the resulting implementation plans.
  • Define the benefits, costs, and expected key results and success criteria for defined projects for the new campus projects.
  • Define project stages and the objectives and costs associated with each stage.
  • Monitor and report on project progress in a structured manner, drawing particular attention to any major deviations from the original project plans.
  • Review all projects and modify performance measures as necessary.
  • Coordinate health and safety matters related to new facilities and physical plant staff.
  • Maintain comprehensive, detailed space mapping for all colleges and units.
  • Troubleshoot any relocation problems and propose a resolution.
  • Ensure consistent and accurate administration of engagement projects, including maintenance of databases and distribution of information.
  • Maintain electronic copies of all project correspondence.
  • Implementation of operational plans related to the organizational unit that cascades down from the strategic plan.
  • The implementation of all the required functional tasks is taking.
  • Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

Knowledge:

Strong understanding of facilities management principles in an academic setting.

In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies.

Advanced project planning and scheduling skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Effective stakeholder communication and negotiation.

Budget management and cost estimation.

Risk identification and mitigation planning.

Leadership and team coordination across multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to handle multiple complex projects concurrently.

efficiency

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 12 years of work experience in a university setting.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an advantage.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in both Arabic and English (spoken and written) is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders in both languages.
  • Strong written skills for preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence.

Additional Skills for University Projects:

  • Knowledge of higher education policies and compliance.
  • Familiarity with academic scheduling, research grants, and campus infrastructure.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management
