Firnas Shuman is a renewable energy consulting and technical services firm. We provide our services around the world with a focus on Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Each request that comes to us from clients is unique and the success of turning these requests into awarded projects depends on the quality of proposals that we submit.

About the position

We are looking for a person to help us prepare high-quality proposals, that are priced competitively, responsive to clients requests and are submitted on time. The proposal specialist is also responsible for keeping all proposal materials organized and up to date to facilitate the fast, easy and accurate preparation and tracking of proposals. The proposal specialist follows up on proposals we have submitted and periodically produces winloss reports.

Job Objective: To efficiently produce high-quality proposals on time

Key Functions:

1-Read clients requests for proposals and produce relevant and compliant proposals

2-Work with the business development team and project managers to understand client needs to prepare proposals accordingly

3-Prepare summaries of requests for proposals and a list of clarifications

4-Prepare technical proposals that correspond to client requirements (using templates and support of colleagues if required)

5-Prepare proposal support materials as required (datasheets, drawings, project time schedule, references, CVs and other pre-qualification documents)

6-Prepare an initial quotation, coordinate with proposal and business development managers to revise it and finalize it into a competitive financial proposal

7-Prepare and maintain an up-to-date database of standards pre-qualification documents

8-Identify and communicate with potential project partners and suppliers, and obtain quotations from suppliers for non-standard items

9-Coordinate and obtain required inputs from other departments, partners and suppliers to respond to the RfP requirements

10- Respond to client's clarification and amendment requests, and update proposals accordingly

11- Prepare offers for variation orders for open projects

12- Represent the company in meetings and communication with clients during proposal preparation, and further clarification and negotiations

13- Follow up with clients on submitted proposals

14- Handover awarded projects to the project team

Basic requirements

We expect that a successful candidate will:

  • Relevant bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., business, engineering, or another discipline);
  • be fluent in written and spoken English (virtually all of our proposals and the requests we receive are in English);
  • be able to understand technical material at least at the level of the functions of various products and components (you don't need to be an engineer but you have to be able to understand how components go together to make a system).

-enjoys the bidding aspect of preparing proposals and is curious to see which proposals are won and which are lost and why.

-is comfortable producing work to a fixed schedule.
