Role Overview

The Structural Inspector ensures that all structural works on ADNOC project sites are executed in full compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, international codes, and ADNOC standards. The role focuses on verifying structural integrity, monitoring fabrication and erection activities, and maintaining comprehensive inspection documentation to support safe and reliable project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Structural Inspection & Compliance

  • Examine the structural integrity of all civil, mechanical and steel structures, equipment supports, and associated installations throughout construction.
  • Verify that all works comply with approved IFC drawings, project specifications, and relevant international codes (ACI, AISC, ASTM, BS, ISO) & (ASME and AWS D1.1)
  • Review technical drawings, method statements, ITPs, and engineering data to ensure correct interpretation and execution.
  • Inspect structural fabrication and erection activities, including fitup, welding, bolting, and alignment.
  • Check verticality, plumbness, and alignment of structural columns, beams, and frames.
  • Conduct bolttightening inspections and verify torque/tensioning as per project requirements.
  • Ensure proper installation of structural elements, including foundations, anchor bolts, steel structures, platforms, pipe racks, and equipment supports.

Welding & Fabrication Oversight

  • Monitor welding processes and ensure compliance with WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications.
  • Inspect weld joints visually and coordinate NDT activities as required.
  • Verify fabrication tolerances and ensure corrective actions for nonconformities.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records of all inspections, observations, and structural modifications.
  • Prepare daily and weekly inspection reports, pre and postinspection checklists, and NCRs for any deviations.
  • Ensure all QA/QC documentation is properly maintained, including ITPs, method statements, procedures, and inspection logs.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and ADNOC representatives for inspection requests and approvals.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all structural activities adhere to ADNOC HSE standards and site safety requirements.
  • Report unsafe conditions and participate in toolbox talks and safety audits.
  • Support the implementation of quality and safety improvement initiatives.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and construction practices.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Familiarity with structural fabrication, erection methods, and welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, etc.).
  • Knowledge of international codes such as ACI, AISC, AWS, BS, and ISO.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced oil and gas construction environment with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Detailoriented mindset with strong problemsolving abilities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural inspection within the oil and gas industry.
  • ADNOC approval preferred; Saudi Aramco approval is an added advantage.
  • Experience with EPC contractors or major oil and gas projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC processes and documentation requirements.

Work Environment

  • Sitebased role within ADNOC onshore/offshore projects.
  • Requires frequent field inspections, coordination with construction teams, and adherence to strict safety protocols.
  • Involves working in hot climate conditions and highactivity construction zones.
