Role Description The QS Engineer will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and updating quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and bills of quantities for ongoing and planned projects. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing drawings and specifications, coordinating with design and site teams, monitoring project costs, and assisting in tender preparation and evaluation. The role involves supporting contract administration, tracking variations, preparing progress reports, and ensuring that project budgets and timelines are adhered to. The QS Engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to maintain accurate records and provide clear cost-related documentation for decision-making. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Cairo, Egypt.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in quantity take-offs, cost estimation, and preparation of bills of quantities.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual documents.
- Experience with QS-related software tools (e.g., cost estimation and measurement software) and MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of tendering procedures, contract administration, and variation and claims management.
- Solid understanding of construction materials, methods, and local market rates.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Relevant experience as a Quantity Surveyor or QS Engineer in consulting or construction environments.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to work on-site in Cairo, manage multiple tasks, and meet project deadlines.
