About the role
The Lead Welding & Piping QA/QC Engineer is responsible for planning, managing, and enforcing quality assurance and quality control activities related to welding, piping fabrication, and installation. The role ensures that all works comply with project specifications, applicable codes and standards, client requirements, and regulatory requirements.
Duties and responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Welding & Piping QA/QC team and implement the project QA/QC Plan and ITPs.
- Act as the main QA/QC interface with Client, Consultant, and Third-Party Inspectors.
- Review, approve, and control WPS, PQR, and Welder Qualifications, ensuring compliance with ASME Section IX, ASME B31, and AWS standards.
- Monitor welding activities including preheating, interpass temperature, PWHT, and consumable control, ensuring full traceability.
- Ensure piping fabrication and installation comply with approved drawings, specifications, and international codes.
- Verify material identification, fit-up, alignment, supports, valves, flanges, and bolting.
- Supervise inspections and testing: VT, NDT, pressure testing, leak testing, and flushing.
- Review and approve NDT procedures, reports, test packs, and handover documentation.
- Manage NCRs, corrective actions, root cause analysis, and support audits.
- Coordinate with construction, engineering, commissioning, and HSE teams to maintain quality and safety standards.
What are we looking for
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 10–15 years experience in welding and piping QA/QC on EPC projects.
- CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 or AWS CWI; ASNT Level II certifications preferred.
- Strong knowledge of international codes and experience leading QA/QC teams.
