Role Summary
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all project-related costs during the design, tendering, and construction phases. The role ensures accurate cost estimation, cost planning, procurement support, and payment verification while maintaining quality and adhering to project timelines. This includes verifying contractor claims, supporting budget planning, and ensuring financial efficiency throughout the project lifecycle for GMG.
Key Success Drivers including Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Monitor and manage cost control activities across all project development phasesdesign, tendering, and construction.
Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and support tender documentation in coordination with design and consultancy teams.
Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, and services to support project feasibility and budgeting.
Review project cost estimates and recommend modifications to optimize material and resource costs while maintaining quality standards.
Develop procurement cost calculations and support tendering processes, from scope development to contract award.
Coordinate with the Finance department for fund approvals, budget transfers, and variation orders.
Validate contractor invoices through on-site measurement of actual quantities and ensure compliance with contract agreements.
Support claims management, ensuring that all vendor and internal project claims are properly evaluated, approved, and documented.
Participate in vendor selection and performance evaluation in alignment with GMG policies.
Conduct site visits and inspections to verify that all project elements align with the contract specifications.
Prepare and present regular cost and budget reports to stakeholders, highlighting budget adherence and potential variances.
Approve final contractor payments and close-out documents in accordance with project delivery and contractual obligations.
Identify non-compliant materials or services and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, company policies, and quality standards throughout the project cycle.

Familiarity with construction laws and regulations
Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and Quantity Surveying software (e.g., CostX, Primavera, etc.)
Experience
7 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, preferably in the retail, commercial, or construction industry
Proven track record of managing project budgets and vendor negotiations
