Job Description Quantity Surveyor
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible forquantity controland coordination with the consultant to maintain approvalof the project from pre-construction through completion. The role ensures that all works are executed within the approvedquantity, in compliance with contract conditions, and aligned with the project schedule.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quantity Take-Off & Cost Control
- Prepare and reviewdetailed quantity take-offsbased on IFC drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Monitor actual quantities executed on site versus contract quantities.
- Assist in preparingquantityforecasts and cashflow projections.
2. Contract Management
- Support the administration ofFIDIC / EPC / Lump Sum / Re-measurement contractsas applicable.
- Review and evaluatesubcontractor quotationsand participate in contract negotiations.
- Assist in the preparation and review of subcontract agreements.
- Monitor subcontractor performance from a contractualperspective.
3. Interim Payments & Invoicing
- Prepare and submitmonthly interim payment applicationsto the Client.
- Measure completed works and verify subcontractor payment claims.
- Coordinate with site engineers and the planning team to validate progress quantities.
- Assist in resolving payment-related issues with subcontractors and the Client.
4. Variations & Claims
- Identify, quantify, and evaluatevariationsarising from design changes or site conditions.
- Prepare variation submissions with supporting measurements and cost breakdowns.
- Assist in the preparation ofclaims for time and cost(EOT, prolongation, disruption).
- Maintain variation and claims registers.
5. Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with Engineering, Planning, Procurement, and Site Teams.
- Prepare periodicQuantitiesreportsfor project management.
- Support audits and contractreviews as required by the Consultant.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
- Minimum7years experiencein construction projects (buildings/infrastructure/ industrial)
- Strong knowledge ofBOQ preparation, measurement methods, and cost control
- Experience working underinternational contract forms (FIDIC preferred)
- Proficient inExcel, AutoCAD, and quantity surveying software
- Good communication and reporting skills
