Job Description Quantity Surveyor

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible forquantity controland coordination with the consultant to maintain approvalof the project from pre-construction through completion. The role ensures that all works are executed within the approvedquantity, in compliance with contract conditions, and aligned with the project schedule.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quantity Take-Off & Cost Control

  • Prepare and reviewdetailed quantity take-offsbased on IFC drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
  • Monitor actual quantities executed on site versus contract quantities.
  • Assist in preparingquantityforecasts and cashflow projections.

2. Contract Management

  • Support the administration ofFIDIC / EPC / Lump Sum / Re-measurement contractsas applicable.
  • Review and evaluatesubcontractor quotationsand participate in contract negotiations.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of subcontract agreements.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance from a contractualperspective.

3. Interim Payments & Invoicing

  • Prepare and submitmonthly interim payment applicationsto the Client.
  • Measure completed works and verify subcontractor payment claims.
  • Coordinate with site engineers and the planning team to validate progress quantities.
  • Assist in resolving payment-related issues with subcontractors and the Client.

4. Variations & Claims

  • Identify, quantify, and evaluatevariationsarising from design changes or site conditions.
  • Prepare variation submissions with supporting measurements and cost breakdowns.
  • Assist in the preparation ofclaims for time and cost(EOT, prolongation, disruption).
  • Maintain variation and claims registers.

5. Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Planning, Procurement, and Site Teams.
  • Prepare periodicQuantitiesreportsfor project management.
  • Support audits and contractreviews as required by the Consultant.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • Minimum7years experiencein construction projects (buildings/infrastructure/ industrial)
  • Strong knowledge ofBOQ preparation, measurement methods, and cost control
  • Experience working underinternational contract forms (FIDIC preferred)
  • Proficient inExcel, AutoCAD, and quantity surveying software
  • Good communication and reporting skills
