Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Quantity Surveyor based in Dubai. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for tasks such as preparing bills of quantities, cost planning, tracking, and managing project commercial administration. Additional duties will involve preparing cost-related reports and supporting effective financial decision-making in projects. The Quantity Surveyor will work closely with project teams to ensure accurate budget estimates and maintain financial oversight.
Responsibilities of the Role
- Review, analyze and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, bills of quantity andspecifications to facilitate or undertake detailed take offs in the format prescribed by theproject method of measurement; for use with interim or final payment applications,variations, claims or Subcontractor /supplier enquiries or payments.
- Liaise with the project engineering department to ensure all measurements are produced from most recent drawing revisions and maintain marked up drawings of project monthly progress measurements in a register.
- Visit sites and undertake any physical site measurements as may be required to secure full and detailed measurement records which may include making photographic records as directed.
- Maintain tracking schedules for variations, dayworks, payments, final measure submissions, additional works or claims as required by Line Manager and raise commercial issues if any.
- Prepare and submit interim/monthly payment applications to consultants/clients and expedite payment certificates; variation orders (cost proposals) with the clients consultants, subcontract or supplier commercial bid analysis for approval as and when required.
- Prepare monthly subcontract cost liability schedule within stipulated timeframe and certify payment to subcontractors in a timely manner and in accordance with the terms of agreement.
- Coordinate with operations staff, cost clerks, timekeepers, and store men etc. to ensure correct cost coding and allocations are implemented and maintained and undertake physical stock and inventory checks or audits on site as may be required for payment applications or internal purposes.
Qualifications
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in relevant software tools for cost estimation and reporting
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- Previous experience in the construction industry within the civil engineering discipline, preferably in the UAE.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
