The regional legal and compliance department of Johnson Controls Arabia (JCA) is looking for a Regional Senior Corporate & Compliance Lawyer to join its team. The legal and compliance department is responsible for legal and compliance support of the activities of JCA & its subsidiaries across Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, Bahrain, Oman & Yemen (region). You will be part of a highly motivated and professional team that is focused on delivering high-quality legal services that enables JCA's growth.
The position will be based in Jeddah, KSA and will act as the legal representatives of JCA and its subsidiaries in the region. He/She will supervise on a wide range of legal matters, ensuring that JCA's business operations are aligned with both local laws and international best practices. You will collaborate with a great variety of stakeholders (both internally and externally).
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Contracts:
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of Bilingual contracts, such as sales agreements, service contracts, turnkey agreements, supplier agreements, and partnership arrangements.
Provide legal guidance to various business departments (sales, procurement, marketing, etc.) on contract terms, obligations, and risks.
Ensure contracts comply with local and international laws, regulations, and JCA's internal policies.
Compliance:
Monitor and advise on legal and regulatory changes in Saudi Arabia and other jurisdictions affecting JCA s operations, ensuring the company is compliant with laws and industry regulations.
Assist in implementing and managing internal compliance programs to ensure adherence to local and global standards.
Provide compliance training and support to internal teams regarding compliance issues.
Litigation and Dispute Resolution:
Draft Memos, attend court hearings and will be the legal representative of the JCA in front of all Saudi Courts.
Manage and oversee any legal disputes and litigation matters, working closely with external legal firms as needed.
Report to relevant stakeholders on dispute status and cooperate to agree on the strategy and the best course of action to resolve disputes efficiently and cost-effectively.
Where required for providing legal support, attend meetings with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and other external parties.
Legal Advice and Risk Management:
Provide proactive legal advice on a range of matters, helping business units assess and mitigate legal risks.
Work with business leaders to resolve legal issues promptly and effectively, protecting the company's interests while fostering business growth.
Assist in the preparation of internal policies and procedures to manage legal risks.
Capture of relevant legislation to the business activities of JCA in the region and correct interpretation of such legislation.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with other functions such as finance, procurement, sales and operations to support the business in the region.
Work closely with the members of JCA's legal & Compliance team to ensure consistency in legal practices and alignment with JCA's policies.
Job Requirements:
Experience & Knowledge:
Minimum 6 years relevant experience in an international and multicultural environment, preferably in an industrial and/or contracting environment or a reputable law firm.
Strong knowledge and proven experience in litigation, corporate & labor matters as well as legal advising .
Ability to work independently and have potential to raise legal service to the next level.
Education:
Law Graduate, LLM will be a plus.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both spoken and written in English and Arabic.
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
Familiar with standard Microsoft tools such as Excel, Power point and Word.
