Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and innovative R&D Chemist to join our team in developing and optimizing specialty chemical products for the oil & gas, industrial water treatment, and process industries. The successful candidate will focus on the formulation, testing, and enhancement of scale inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, and demulsifiers, contributing to both new product development and improvement of existing solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and formulate chemical products, particularly scale inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, and demulsifiers, based on market and client requirements.
- Conduct laboratory synthesis, performance testing, and analytical characterization of products.
- Design and execute experimental plans using appropriate testing protocols (jar tests, dynamic scale loop, electrochemical methods, bottle tests, etc.).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and commercial departments to ensure smooth technology transfer from lab to plant scale.
- Investigate product failures or performance deviations and recommend technical solutions or improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory experiments, data analysis, and formulation reports.
- Evaluate raw materials and alternative suppliers to ensure consistent product quality and cost-efficiency.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory standards.
- Support customer technical service teams with product trials, troubleshooting, and application support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in an R&D or technical support role focusing on scale inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, and demulsifiers.
- Strong understanding of chemical formulation principles and structureperformance relationships.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and techniques relevant to oilfield chemicals and water treatment applications.
- Proficient in analytical tools (e.g., FTIR, GC, ICP, HPLC, TGA/DSC, titration techniques).
- Experience with scaling and corrosion test methods (e.g., NACE TM standards) is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
