Job Summary
Managing and supervising major civil construction works on site, ensuring compliance with contract documents, technical specifications, approved drawings, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules. The role represents the consultant on site and acts as the primary interface with the client and contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Consultant's on-site representative for major civil infrastructure or building projects.
- Lead and manage site supervision teams, including discipline engineers and inspectors.
- Ensure construction works comply with contract requirements, approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
- Review and approve method statements, work programs, shop drawings, and material submittals related to civil works.
- Monitor project progress against the approved schedule and report delays, risks, and mitigation measures.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, client representatives, and authorities as required.
- Ensure implementation of quality control procedures and approve inspection and test requests (ITRs).
- Oversee site safety practices and ensure compliance with HSE requirements and regulations.
- Review and certify contractors interim payment applications and variations.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage claims, change orders, and site instructions.
- Chair and lead site meetings and issue technical and progress reports to the client and head office.
- Ensure proper documentation, record keeping, and as-built drawings are maintained.
- Support project close-out activities, including snag lists, testing, commissioning, and handover.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's degree is an advantage).
- 1215 years of relevant experience in engineering consulting and site supervision of major civil projects.
- Proven experience as a Resident Engineer on large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of contract administration (FIDIC or similar forms).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and resolve site issues effectively.
- Proficiency in engineering software and reporting tools.
