Job Title: Robot Hardware Operator

Location: Dubai, UAE Job Type: Full-time Reports To: [Operations Manager / Lead Field Engineer]Nationality: All nationalities.

Role Summary

We are looking for a skilled Robot Hardware Operator to ensure the smooth daily operation of our robotic fleet. You will be the primary first responder for our robots in the fieldresponsible for deploying them, monitoring their performance, diagnosing hardware issues on the spot, and performing component-level repairs (swapping motors, sensors, batteries, etc.).

Key Responsibilities

1. Robot Operation & Deployment

  • Transport robots to designated operating areas using a company vehicle.
  • Perform pre-deployment safety checks (battery voltage, sensor calibration, E-stop functionality) to ensure the robot is mission-ready.
  • Operate the robot during service missions, monitoring telemetry and intervening if the robot encounters navigation stuck-points or errors.

2. Hardware Maintenance & Diagnosis

  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance (cleaning sensors, tightening fasteners, lubricating mechanical joints, and checking tire pressure).
  • Diagnose hardware failures using diagnostic software, multimeters, and error logs.
  • Distinguish between software glitches (resolvable via restart/remote support) and physical hardware failures (requiring part replacement).

3. Component Repair & Replacement

  • Perform modular repairs in the field or workshop, including:
  • Replacing LiDARs, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors.
  • Swapping out faulty wheel motors, servo actuators, or battery management systems (BMS).
  • Re-crimping loose wires or replacing damaged cable harnesses.
  • Manage a small inventory of spare parts (screws, cables, modules) in the service vehicle.

4. Reporting & Feedback

  • Log all maintenance activities and error codes in the fleet management system.
  • Provide detailed feedback to the engineering team regarding recurring hardware failures or design flaws found in the field.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Technical Background: Diploma or Certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or equivalent trade capability.
  • Driving:Valid driver's license with a clean record. (Must be confident driving a van or pickup truck to transport robots).
  • Hand Tools: proficiency with standard hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, torque keys) and basic diagnostic tools (multimeter).
  • Physical: Ability to lift and load robots/equipment (up to [X] kg) into vehicles.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and assembly manuals.
  • Experience diagnosing electromechanical systems (e.g., drones, RC vehicles, scooters, or industrial machines).
  • Basic computer literacy (Linux/Ubuntu familiarity is a strong plus).

Soft Skills:

  • Patience and problem-solving mindset under pressure.
  • Good communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical clients or remote engineers.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic
  • Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

    • Experience as a Field Service Technician (e.g., for ATMs, vending machines, or e-scooter fleets).
    • Basic soldering skills for emergency cable repair.
    • Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System) command line tools.
