ABOUT THE FUNCTION

The role is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling all housekeeping activities, maintaining the established standards of cleanliness, orderliness and attractive condition of the public areas, back-of-the-house areas and the laundry plan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Formulating and implementing housekeeping strategies aligned with the hotel's brand standards and luxury positioning.
  • Develop departmental goals and objectives to improve service quality, efficiency, and guest satisfaction.
  • Implement regular audits and inspections to maintain quality, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate in creating training programs for housekeeping staff to maintain skill levels and service quality.
  • Mentor and coach supervisors and team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for budgeting and resource allocation, ensuring optimal use of supplies and labor without compromising quality.
  • Forecast staffing needs and assist in recruitment planning to maintain adequate workforce levels.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and initiatives aimed at enhancing overall hotel operations.
  • Support initiatives aimed at personalizing guest services, handling guest feedback, and promptly resolving complaints related to housekeeping.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Promote sustainable practices within the housekeeping operations, such as waste reduction and eco-friendly products.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing new technologies or housekeeping management systems that improve efficiency and guest satisfaction
  • Help track performance metrics and KPIs through data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Oversee daily activities of housekeeping teams including room attendants, public area cleaners, laundry staff, and supervisors.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting training sessions for new hires and ongoing refresher courses for existing staff.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • 5-8 years of Housekeeping experience in a luxury property
  • At least 3 years of managerial experience
  • A blend of hands-on operational expertise, leadership skills, and familiarity with the high standards and expectations of luxury hospitality
  • Professional chemical handling certification plus
