Responsibilities:
Sample Preparation:
- Perform sample preparation tasks in accordance with documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and recognized reference methods
- Lay out customer samples and check them against the information on the sample submission form, reporting any discrepancies
Quality Control:
- Monitor quality control results and report any deviations to the Chemist
- Perform scheduled verification (intermediate checks) of critical equipment (weight, volume, temperature, calibration standards as applicable).
- Assist with all quality and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) incident investigations
Safety and Compliance:
- Act in a safe and professional manner, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing good housekeeping.
- Report any unsafe conditions or nonconforming events related to customer samples to the Chemist
- Report any deviation from documented procedures to the Chemist.
Monitoring the performance and maintenance of the instruments Coordination and communication:
- Assist with the coordination of sample movement between different laboratory areas
- Communicate general laboratory issues to the Chemist as appropriate
Qualification Requirements:
- Laboratory Technician Diploma/Chemistry
- Familiarity with the operation of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Ability to work effectively in both team and independent environments
Experience and Skills Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience in sample preparation at a commercial laboratory or equivalent experience in manual labor positions, such as construction
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
