About The Role
We are seeking a senior SAP Functional Lead with specialized expertise in Force Lifecycle Management (FLM) and/or Transportation Management (TM) for a large-scale defense transformation program with a government defense ministry in the Middle East.
The FLM domain within SAP Defense & Security covers the complete lifecycle management of military forces — including personnel readiness, equipment tracking, maintenance cycles, and operational deployment planning. The TM domain covers end-to-end defense logistics, supply convoy management, freight planning, and inter-base transportation operations.
The successful candidate will own solution design, team leadership, and client engagement within their functional domain, reporting to the Functional Delivery Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the FLM or TM functional domain across all project phases from design through go-live and post-implementation support
- Define and own the solution architecture for Force Lifecycle or Transportation processes, aligned with SAP Defense & Security best practices
- Conduct requirement-gathering workshops, fit-gap analyses, and solution design sessions with the defense ministry client
- Lead and supervise functional team members, monitoring day-to-day performance and quality of deliverables
- Collaborate with technical, security, and other functional domain leads to ensure integrated, end-to-end solutions
- Engage with the authorization team to implement appropriate security models, including defense-grade access controls
- Drive issue resolution throughout implementation, testing, upgrade, and service pack cycles
- Review and contribute to shared project deliverables including UAT plans, configuration documents, and cutover strategies
- Establish performance baselines and monitor system performance, leading optimization activities post go-live
- Manage change requests by documenting and justifying the business need for scope changes
- Build and maintain effective relationships with the client and cross-functional team members
Module-Specific Requirements
FLM — Force Lifecycle Management:
- SAP Defense & Security — Force Lifecycle Management module
- Military personnel readiness and unit management
- Equipment and asset lifecycle tracking for defense inventories
- Operational deployment planning and force readiness reporting
- Integration with SAP PM, MM, HR, and defense-specific modules
- Prior experience with a defense ministry or armed forces client is mandatory
TM — Transportation Management:
- SAP TM (standalone or S/4HANA embedded) implementation
- Freight order management, carrier selection, and route optimization
- Defense logistics: supply convoy planning and inter-base transfers
- Shipment tracking, load planning, and freight cost settlement
- Integration with SAP MM, SD, EWM, and GTS
- Government or defense logistics experience strongly preferred
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or equivalent
- SAP Certification in a relevant module — mandatory
- Business-level proficiency in both Arabic and English — mandatory
Experience
- 15+ years of total SAP experience with deep expertise in FLM (SAP Defense & Security) and/or SAP TM
- Minimum 5 years of SAP project experience within defense, military, or government ministry environments — non-negotiable
- Proven track record leading functional teams on large-scale SAP programs
- Expert-level knowledge of SAP Activate methodology across the full project lifecycle
- Strong understanding of SAP integration across FICO, HR, MM, and BI from a functional perspective
- Knowledge of SAP security models including SSO and IDM from an integration standpoint
- Familiarity with ITIL practices — Incident, Problem, and Request Management
- Experience with enterprise-wide system implementation challenges and change request processes
