We are looking for a Scientist in Microbiology who will be responsible for reviewing the methods development, Validation, and verification of Microbiology tests Microbiology department.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced knowledge of microbiology, including automated/manual techniques, antimicrobial resistance, analytical systems, and quality assurance.
  • Experience in supervising lab services, managing staff training, competency assessments, and overseeing daily operations to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO, UKAS accreditation, LEAN principles, and laboratory quality management systems, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent ability to resolve technical issues, investigate incidents, monitor errors, and validate microbiology results.
  • Responsible for method development, validation, verification, report writing, publishing research, and developing new microbiology techniques and processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety protocols, hazardous material handling, autoclave room oversight, and maintaining laboratory best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, liaising between departments, chairing meetings, and acting as a link between microbiology and other teams.
  • Accountable for QC/QA, proficiency testing, audits, KPI monitoring, and driving improvements through training, mentoring, and collaboration.

Qualifications

Education:

  • MSc Biomedical Sciences: specializing in Microbiology and/or experience in an equivalent role. State Registration as a Biomedical Scientist in Microbiology or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Evidence of participation in CPD.
  • State Registration as a Biomedical Scientist / Technologist in Microbiology.
