English / History Teacher for the academic year 2026-2027 at our innovative
GEMS British International School El-Rehab. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for dedicated educators who are passionate about teaching both English and History and ready to inspire students through these complementary subjects.
The successful candidate will be based in Cairo, Egypt, and will engage students in a rich curriculum that fosters critical thinking and a deep understanding of historical contexts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver dynamic lesson plans that effectively integrate English literature and historical content, catering to diverse learning styles
- Encourage critical thinking and analysis in students through engaging discussions, debates, and collaborative projects
- Assess student understanding and performance through a variety of evaluative methods, providing constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes
- Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that promotes a love for both English language and History
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary teaching strategies that connect English and History in meaningful ways
- Engage students in extracurricular activities related to both subjects, such as writing competitions, history fairs, and literature clubs
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and strategies to support their academic development
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of educational best practices and curriculum changes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in English, History, Education, or a related field
- Proven experience teaching both English and History at the Secondary level is strongly preferred
- A minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience, with familiarity in the British Curriculum being a significant advantage
- In-depth knowledge of English literature and historical content, along with the skills to engage and motivate students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with students, parents, and colleagues
- Innovative and adaptable teaching methodologies that embrace diverse learning needs
- Commitment to professional growth and active participation in school activities and initiatives
- PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification is desirable
