We are a growing boutique law firm in the UAE, committed to providing exceptional legal services with a focus on client care, efficiency, and professionalism. As we scale, we are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented General Accountant to support our financial operations and ensure compliance with UAE regulations, including VAT and legal industry-specific accounting requirements.
Job Summary:
The General Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing daily accounting tasks, Lodging Corporate Tax, handling VAT returns, processing invoices, and assisting in general administrative and compliance matters relevant to a law firm environment. This role requires a high level of integrity, discretion, and familiarity with UAE accounting and legal compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Financial Management
Record daily transactions including expenses, receipts, payments, and transfers
Reconcile bank statements
Reconcile Crypto Transactions
Maintain the general ledger and ensure up-to-date financial records
Monitor petty cash and firm operational expenses
VAT & Compliance
Prepare and file VAT returns in accordance with FTA regulations
Track VAT-related transactions and maintain supporting documentation
Ensure the firm complies with UAE tax and accounting regulations
Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors when required
Invoicing & Billing
Generate client invoices in coordination with lawyers
Track receivables and follow up on outstanding payments
Maintain client billing records and ensure correct allocation of funds
Process disbursements and client-related expenses accurately
Payroll & Staff Expenses
Process monthly payroll and ensure compliance with WPS (Wage Protection System)
Handle employee expense reimbursements and leave settlements.
Legal Industry-Specific Duties
Maintain accurate records of client funds and ensure separation from office funds (if applicable under legal trust accounting)
Support ICV compliance, ESR, and other UAE-specific regulatory frameworks
Assist in preparing financial reports for RERA, ADGM, or DIFC (if relevant)
Administrative & Miscellaneous
Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting
Work with management to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve systems
Support ad-hoc financial and operational tasks as required
Requirements:
MUST KNOW HOW TO CONFIDENTLY LODGE VAT AND CORPORATE TAX
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience in the UAE
Strong understanding of UAE VAT regulations and FTA filing procedures
Proficiency in accounting software specifically with xero but others ate acceptable (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Tally, or similar)
Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills
High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
Strong communication skills in English
