Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing core accounting functions, ensuring accuracy of financial records, compliance with regulations, and supporting financial planning and reporting activities. This role acts as a key link between operational accounting and financial management, providing technical expertise, leading closing processes, and supporting audits, taxation, and budgeting efforts.

Key responsibilities:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and completeness
  • Review general ledger entries, reconciliations, and adjustments
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and account analyses
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails

Accounts Payable, Receivable & Cash Management

  • Manage AP/AR cycles with strong internal controls and timely processing
  • Monitor cash flow, expenses, settlements, and petty cash
  • Review and approve employee expense reports

Taxation & Compliance

  • Prepare and review tax filings and computations (VAT, WHT)
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Maintain documentation to support tax filings and reviews

Audit & Internal Controls

  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits
  • Ensure effectiveness of financial controls

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow projections
  • Perform variance analysis and provide insights for decision-making

Process Improvement & Projects

  • Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes and reporting efficiency
  • Support automation initiatives and implementation of best practices
  • Participate in finance-related projects

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal departments to support operations and reporting
  • Act as liaison with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
