Senior Accountant

About the Role
We are looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Dubai. This is a hands-on role suited for a finance professional with strong technical accounting expertise, solid regional exposure (UAE & KSA), and the ability to operate confidently in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory and tax compliance, supporting audits, and contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and system/process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare, review, and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in the general ledger.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, ensuring correct capitalization and depreciation.
- Ensure strict compliance with IFRS/GAAP, internal accounting policies, and reporting standards.
- Prepare detailed schedules, reconciliations, and analytical reports for management reporting.
Reconciliations & Internal Controls
- Perform and review bank, vendor, customer, and intercompany reconciliations on a regular basis.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely settlements and follow-ups.
- Ensure adherence to internal control frameworks, approval matrices, and segregation of duties.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies or variances promptly.
- Support the continuous strengthening of financial controls and compliance processes.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts.
- Analyze budget vs. actual variances and provide clear, structured explanations to management.
- Support leadership with financial insights, dashboards, and ad-hoc analysis as required.
Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Prepare, review, and ensure timely filing of VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), and Corporate Tax (CT) returns in both UAE and KSA.
- Ensure full compliance with local tax regulations and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring audit readiness and smooth execution.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements affecting the business.
Team Support & Process Improvement
- Supervise, guide, and review the work of junior accountants.
- Support finance process improvements, standardization, and documentation.
- Assist with ERP / accounting system implementations or upgrades.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and reporting quality.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within the UAE, with KSA exposure.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.
- Solid understanding of VAT, WHT, and Corporate Tax regulations in the UAE and KSA.
- Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics (F&O) ERP is a strong advantage.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting systems.
- Experience working in multi-entity, fast-paced environments is highly preferred.
