Senior BIM Technician

Main purpose of job:

As a Senior BIM Technician at Wentworth House Partnership, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the engineering team by leveraging your expertise in BIM software to create and manage digital models that support the design and construction process. This will include preparing accurate 2D drawings and 3D models using industry-standard software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Tekla, Rhino, and others. You will also coordinate BIM aspects using Navisworks

(or other software) to ensure seamless integration and collaboration across project teams.

You will guide and mentor junior technicians and engineers, contributing to the successful delivery of design solutions across structural, construction, civil, and geotechnical disciplines. CORE DUTIES:

  • Prepare accurate 2D drawings and 3D models using Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Tekla, Rhino, and other industry-standard software.
  • Support the engineering team in delivering design solutions across structural, construction, civil, and geotechnical disciplines.
  • Coordinate BIM aspects using Navisworks (or similar) to ensure seamless integration and collaboration across project teams and for external sharing with clients.
  • Develop Families and Standard details to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of BIM models.
  • Develop Standard Workflows to streamline BIM processes and ensure consistency across projects.
  • Integrate BIM data and CAD models into visualisation workflows. (Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, Tekla, etc.)
  • Prepare submission packages to be shared with clients.
  • Maintain BIM models, Drawings, and Documents in the project folders, including working files and revisions.

  • Collaborate effectively with senior technicians and engineers.
  • Maintain compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
  • Demonstrate a growing understanding of civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering principles.
  • Apply safe working practices and contribute to constructability discussions.
  • Ensure briefs are understood before commencing work and seek clarification when needed.
  • Identify and communicate any risks or issues in drawings that may affect safety or constructability.
  • Comply with all Wentworth policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Use time effectively and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Uphold ethical standards and contribute positively to team culture and diversity.

INNOVATION & DEVELOPMENT:

  • Contribute to the innovation of modelling and detailing techniques, ensuring the use of the latest technologies and methodologies.
  • Support the implementation of new tools and processes that improve efficiency and accuracy in modelling and detailing tasks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve BIM processes and workflows, enhancing project efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop programming skills relevant to visualisation and automation (e.g., Python, C#, scripting in 3ds Max or Unity).

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 2 years Preparing 2D drawings and 3D models using Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Tekla, Rhino, and other industry-standard software. 2 years - Coordinating BIM aspects using Navisworks (or similar) Preferred: 1 year - Production of output in 3D Studio Max 1 years - Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites 1-2 years of Coding (e.g., Python, C#, scripting) Qualifications Diploma/ Engineering Degree/ Architecture Degree
