JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood has an opportunity for a Senior CAD Opearator to join our team in Qatar on a permanent contract. This is a key role within the Wood Doha office delivering across study, FEED, EPC and PMC scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of offshore project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man-hour, cost and the project schedule targets.
Reflecting the market focus for the office in both brownfield and greenfield opportunities, multi-skilled personnel are sought, in particular those with experience in:
Offshore Oil and Gas
Onshore Oil and Gas
RESPONSIBILITIES
Applies CAD techniques to develop working drawings, within company and industry standards and codes, from equipment specifications and detailed drawings
Develops working drawings including various views, sections, and details, containing dimensional data for engineering installation, fabrication, or manufacturing purposes
Discuss designs with the engineering/design team, following instructions for developing a design, working from a computer model of the item, or changing detailed diagrams so they can be more easily followed
Work as part of a small team with each member assigned a separate area of a project under the supervision of a design engineer
Produce 3D and 2D drawings (solid and surface modelling)
Is able to confidently read, modify and develop typical drawings across all disciplines with support from the relevant engineers
Responsible for the checking of 2D drawings across all disciplines to ensure compliance to the clients drafting standards before issue
Understand the equations, calculations and written instructions from designers and engineers before beginning a CAD drawing
Uses notations and symbols to give instructions on drawings
Assist engineers by preparing computer-generated working drawings that are project specific
Provide technical drafting support, plot data from direction, and compile engineering data from drawings or field notes
Create as-built or revised designs from existing drawings as requested
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum ISCED Level 3. ISCED Level 4 or 5 preferred
Must have a minimum of 5 year's experience working on projects in Qatar for the O&G sector
Must have a minimum of 3 year's experience working on QatarEnergy projects
Must have an in-depth working knowledge of the QatarEnergy Standard for Development of Technical Drawings QP-ENG-STD-018
Highly proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Microstation
Technical CAD training and qualifications in both AutoCAD and Microstation
Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the engineering field
Familiar with the O&G sector quality control requirements, able to check the work of self and others
Solid grasp of engineering drawing and principles and understands the qualities of various materials
Proficient in preparing CAD detail and assembly drawings and material take-off
Capable of gathering dimensional and technical data from operating facility
Ability to apply 2D CAD/D techniques
Be able to convert verbal and written information into two dimensional drawings - accuracy and attention to detail are essential
Must be able to multi-task projects and drawings, and able to prioritize to meet deadlines
Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD drafting/modelling software
Good communication, numeracy, and IT skills
Applicants are required to:
Be available for work in Doha, Qatar
Have demonstrable experience of recruitment within their discipline, including interviewing, candidate selection and team building within small discipline teams.
Have demonstrable experience of working independently / remotely from technical leadership personnel (although functional leadership will be within the Doha office.
Must have extensive offshore structural anaylysis experience in particular jackets.
Have demonstrable experience of working within a small project office, supporting cross discipline activities beyond their core discipline
