Job Description

About the role:

Accountable for Port Equipment commissioning including planning, managing fabrication, on-site installation, FAT & SAT testing and ensuring that all systems perform within required specifications prior to sign-off and hand-over to operating entities globally. in addition, drives robust collaboration between vendors, installation teams and terminal/port personnel and ensures that all equipment operates efficiently, reliably and in compliance with engineering standards and domestic and international regulations.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide input on engineering designs and project timelines.
  • Lead all technical aspects of pre-commissioning, commissioning, and post-commissioning activities of Port Equipment.
  • Carry out Site Supervision during fabrication stage at Contractors manufacturing sites.
  • Coordinate and oversee Contractors and appointed on-site Consultants at every critical stage/milestone event of the manufacturing process including monitoring quality of workmanship, testing, adherence to specifications and standards, and certifying where required the completion of production stages.
  • Execute inspection and/or tests in accordance with industry best practice Inspection Plans.
  • Maintain a Snag List/List of Open Points and update on a weekly basis including providing all related inspection reports to which the Snag Item/Open point refers.
  • Oversee the offloading of STS, RTGs cranes & other equipment, checking for any damage or stress damage caused during loading, vessel voyage, unloading or transit from the Contractor's site to the project site.
  • Provide required Reporting including Inspection Test Plan, Weekly Inspection Plan, Weekly Progress Report, Monthly Progress Report, Nonconformity Report, Inspection summary/snag list, Measurement reports & Weekly Minutes of meetings.
  • Conduct thorough testing, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning of equipment to guarantee optimal performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Coordinate the training for operational and maintenance staff on the proper use, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance plans and schedules based on equipment performance data.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth commissioning & handover process.
  • Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices during all commissioning activities.

Required Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, project management or related field).
  • Certification in relevant engineering disciplines such as PMP or Six Sigma is desirable.
  • Fluency in professional English
  • Arabic or other languages is desirable.
  • Minimum 7+ years experience in Port Equipment / Large Materials Handling Equipment and Facility Engineering & maintenance
  • Minimum of 5 years of Engineering project management
  • Strong project management background, demonstrating successful ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of international standards and regulations relating to port operations and equipment.
  • Experience with risk assessment and management related to maritime operations.
  • Proven experience in commissioning engineering, particularly in the ports, maritime or logistics industry.
