Role Overview
- We are seeking an experienced Resident Commvault Engineer to provide onsite administration, support, and operational management of the enterprise backup and recovery environment for a leading organization in the UAE.
- The engineer will be responsible for day-to-day management, monitoring, troubleshooting, optimization, and compliance of the Commvault backup platform across mission-critical systems.
- The role requires close coordination with the customer's infrastructure, database, storage, and security teams to ensure reliable data protection and compliance with enterprise backup policies.
Key Responsibilities
Commvault Administration
- Manage and administer the Commvault Backup & Recovery platform in an enterprise environment.
- Configure and maintain:
- Backup policies
- Storage policies
- Media agents
- Clients and subclients
- Monitor backup jobs, schedules, and alerts to ensure successful backup and recovery operations.
Backup & Recovery Operations
- Perform backup, restore, and recovery operations for:
- Physical and virtual servers
- Databases
- File systems
- Applications
- Support database backups (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) where applicable.
- Execute test restores and disaster recovery validation.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Monitor backup health using:
Commvault Command Center
Commvault Console
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to:
Backup failures
Performance bottlenecks
Media agent issues
Storage connectivity issues
Perform Routine Platform Maintenance Including
Commvault upgrades
Patch management
Capacity planning
Storage management
Maintain optimal performance of backup infrastructure.
Compliance & Reporting
- Generate backup reports and compliance reports.
- Ensure backup retention policies align with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain documentation of backup architecture and operational procedures.
