Job Summary
The Senior Contracts Administrator is responsible for managing the full contract lifecycle for oil and gas projects, ensuring contractual compliance, commercial risk mitigation, and alignment with company policies and project objectives. The role supports major EPC, engineering, drilling, production, and maintenance contracts, working closely with project management, legal, procurement, finance, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management & Administration
- Administer contracts from award through execution, variations, claims, and close‑out
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, company procedures, and applicable laws and regulations
- Interpret complex contractual clauses and provide commercial/contractual guidance to project teams
- Monitor contract performance, milestones, deliverables, and payment schedules
Commercial & Risk Management
- Identify contractual and commercial risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Evaluate change orders, variations, and amendments for cost, schedule, and risk impact
- Support negotiation and settlement of claims, disputes, and final accounts
- Maintain accurate contract documentation, records, and correspondence
Claims & Change Control
- Review and assess contractor claims for time extensions, compensation events, and variations
- Prepare contractual responses, recommendations, and negotiation strategies
- Track and manage change control logs and claims registers
Coordination & Stakeholder Support
- Liaise with legal, procurement, finance, and project controls teams
- Support project managers with contract interpretation and decision‑making
- Participate in contract review meetings, progress meetings, and audits
- Provide guidance to junior contracts administrators and commercial staff
Close‑Out & Reporting
- Support contract close‑out, final accounts, warranties, and contractual handover
- Prepare regular commercial and contractual reports for management
- Ensure lessons learned are documented for future projects
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business, Law, or a related discipline
Experience
- 10-15 years of contracts administration experience in the oil & gas industry
- Proven experience with EPC, LSTK, service, drilling, or maintenance contracts
- Strong background in large‑scale projects (onshore, brownfield)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of industry standard contract forms (FIDIC, EPC, bespoke oil & gas contracts)
- Solid understanding of commercial principles, claims management, and risk allocation
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- High attention to detail with strong documentation and reporting capability
- Ability to manage multiple contracts under tight project timelines
Software & Systems
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with contract management systems and document control tools
