We are looking to hire a Manager Data Engineering & AI who will be responsible for establishing and introducing new data frameworks, process workflows, and automation solutions for our client based in Dubai one of the largest companies in the region.
This position is a contract role with an initial duration of 12 months and is renewable.
The role sits within the Data and AI Department and reports directly to the Director of Data and AI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of data pipelines and frameworks to support AI/ML and Generative AI projects.
- Drive the development of enterprise-level workflows and automations for scalable data and AI processing.
- Oversee the build and optimization of ETL/ELT pipelines for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Define and enforce data governance, lineage, quality, and security standards across all engineering initiatives.
- Provide hands-on expertise in cloud-native AI/ML solutions, ensuring scalability and cost efficiency.
- Integrate and optimize data from Palantir and other advanced platforms for group-wide adoption.
- Partner with data scientists, ML engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to enable advanced analytics and AI-powered solutions.
- Champion best practices in MLOps, model deployment, and monitoring in production environments.
- Mentor and guide a small team of engineers while remaining hands-on with coding, architecture, and delivery.
- Evaluate and introduce emerging AI/ML and Data Engineering technologies to strengthen enterprise AI strategy.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with at least 35 years in AI/ML or Generative AI project leadership.
- Proven experience leading data engineering teams or projects while remaining technically hands-on.
- Strong programming expertise in Python, SQL, PySpark, with exposure to Java or Scala a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Palantir, Databricks, or equivalent data platforms.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services (e.g., S3, Redshift, BigQuery, Synapse).
- Deep knowledge of Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Delta Lake, Snowflake).
- Solid understanding of AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, Scikit-learn).
- Strong experience with MLOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, Vertex AI, SageMaker) and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Luigi) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Background in data modeling, distributed systems, and system architecture.
- Strong knowledge of data privacy, compliance, and security frameworks in enterprise settings.
- Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced certifications in Cloud, AI/ML, or Data Engineering are an advantage.
Availability:
- Preference will be given to candidates available immediately or within 30 days of accepting the offer.
- Candidate must be able to work in the United Arab Emirates.
