Position Summary
We are seeking a highly competent and detail-oriented Senior ELV & Passive Infrastructure Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and supporting ELV systems and passive infrastructure in enterprise, commercial, and mission-critical environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong practical expertise in structured cabling systems (copper & fiber), racks, containment, patching standards, labeling discipline, and testing/certification, as well as experience supporting common ELV systems such as CCTV, access control, structured network outlets, public address, fire alarm interfacing, and related low-current solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1) Passive Infrastructure / Structured Cabling
- Lead installation and support of structured cabling infrastructure including:
- Copper cabling (Cat6 / Cat6A and higher)
- Fiber optics (SM/MM, splicing, termination, and OTDR testing)
- Patch panels, patch cords, faceplates, and outlet termination
- Ensure compliance with best practices in routing, cable management, separation, and bend radius requirements.
- Maintain proper labeling, documentation, and patching discipline for all data center and site installations.
- Plan and execute rack elevation layouts and cable containment solutions.
2) Data Center / IT Room Passive Works
- Support passive infrastructure related to data centers and communications rooms including:
- racks and cabinets installation
- ladder trays, trunking, and conduits
- grounding/bonding for racks (as applicable)
- cross-connect and interconnect management
- Ensure high-quality workmanship aligned with enterprise standards and project requirements.
3) ELV Systems Engineering & Support
- Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of ELV systems such as:
- CCTV systems
- Access Control systems
- Intercom systems
- Public Address (PA) / Background Music (BGM)
- IP telephony and structured outlets
- Fire Alarm interfacing (as applicable)
- Coordinate ELV integration points with IT networks (VLAN requirements, IP addressing coordination, network readiness).
4) Testing, Commissioning & Quality Assurance
- Perform testing and certification of copper and fiber cabling:
- Fluke testing for copper
- OTDR testing for fiber
- Review and validate test results; ensure full compliance prior to handover.
- Ensure project execution follows approved materials, methods, and quality standards.
- Identify issues during installation and enforce corrective actions.
5) Documentation, Handover & Reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation:
- as-built drawings
- rack layouts and elevations
- patching schedules
- labeling database
- test reports and certificates
- Deliver professional handover packages and provide support during client inspections and acceptance.
6) Vendor / Contractor Supervision
- Supervise contractors/subcontractors and ensure they follow standards and timelines.
- Verify materials approvals, BOQ compliance, and technical adherence.
- Support project coordination including schedule updates and progress reporting.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in ELV and passive infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of:
- structured cabling systems (copper/fiber)
- fiber termination/splicing and testing methods
- rack/containment and patching standards
- ELV system basics (CCTV, access control, intercom, etc.)
- Ability to work onsite in Syria in a resident role.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in data center passive infrastructure and enterprise communications rooms.
- Understanding of network basics (IP addressing, VLANs) to support ELV IP systems.
- Experience working with drawings (AutoCAD) and producing professional as-built documentation.
- Experience with large-scale projects and strict quality handover requirements.
