This is a remote position.
- Designing and implementing scalable backend architectures using PHP and Laravel.
- Making informed architectural trade-offs based on business and product needs.
- Writing clean, maintainable, and performance-optimized code.
- Reviewing code and raising engineering standards across the team.
- Refactoring legacy systems and improving technical debt.
- Collaborating with product and design to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Optimizing database design and query performance (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
- Driving improvements in development workflows, CI/CD, and code quality.
- Using AI-assisted development tools effectively to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
Requirements
What Makes You a True Senior (Required)
- 8+ years of real-world full-stack experience, including ownership of production systems.
- Deep expertise in PHP and Laravel (not just usage, understanding of internals, performance, and best practices).
- Experience designing systems from scratch and scaling them.
- Strong architectural thinking and ability to justify technical decisions.
- Experience working with modern frontend frameworks (React or Vue).
- Strong database design and optimization experience.
- Experience working in production environments (servers, cloud, CI/CD pipelines).
- Experience working with Git workflows and collaborative development.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools (e.g., AI coding assistants, AI APIs, prompt engineering) as part of your daily development workflow.
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of features or systems.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience integrating AI APIs into production systems.
- Experience mentoring other developers.
- Experience improving engineering culture and processes.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and infrastructure management.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) beyond surface-level rituals.
