Senior HSE Specialis

Role Description The Senior HSE Specialist at HE Tea Break is a part-time remote role responsible for shaping and overseeing health, safety, and environmental practices related to the organization's activities and content. This role includes reviewing and advising on workplace and digital event safety considerations, developing guidance materials, and ensuring alignment with relevant health, safety, and environmental standards, particularly in the UK higher education context. The specialist will provide expert input into discussions and resources, support risk assessments for online and occasional in-person engagements, and design or refine training content for the audience on health and safety themes. The role involves collaborating with the hosts, contributing to strategic planning around HSE topics, and helping to promote a culture of wellbeing and safety awareness within the HE Tea Break community.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in Environment Health and Safety (EHS) and Health & Safety, with the ability to provide practical guidance in a higher education or professional services setting.
• Strong Environmental Awareness and Occupational Health knowledge, including familiarity with relevant regulations, risk assessment, and best practices for safe and healthy work environments.
• Experience in Training related to health, safety, and environmental topics, including developing clear, engaging educational materials or sessions for diverse professional audiences.
• Relevant professional certification or qualification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent), and prior experience in a senior or advisory HSE role.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively across virtual teams.
• Understanding of or experience in the UK higher education sector, or similar complex organizational environments, is highly beneficial.
