The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to lead interior design projects from concept development through detailed design, documentation, procurement support, construction, and final handover.

The ideal candidate will combine strong creative direction with technical knowledge, project leadership, material expertise, and client-management capabilities. The role requires the ability to translate client requirements and project objectives into compelling, functional, technically coordinated, and commercially viable interior environments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead interior design projects from initial briefing and concept development through construction and completion.
Develop creative interior design concepts aligned with project objectives, brand identity, user requirements, and architectural context.
Translate client requirements, project briefs, budgets, and operational needs into clear design strategies.
Conduct site visits, surveys, measurements, and existing-condition assessments.
Analyze site constraints, opportunities, circulation, functionality, lighting, materials, finishes, and spatial requirements.
Develop space-planning concepts, layouts, furniture arrangements, and functional zoning.
Prepare concept presentations, mood boards, material palettes, sketches, renderings, and design narratives.
Develop design schemes that balance aesthetics, functionality, user experience, durability, maintainability, and cost.
Lead the development of schematic, developed, and detailed interior design packages.
Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, schedules, and documentation required for project delivery.
Coordinate interior design documentation with architectural, structural, MEP, lighting, acoustical, technology, and other technical disciplines.
Review and resolve design interfaces and coordination issues between interior elements and building systems.
Develop reflected ceiling plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, joinery details, furniture layouts, finish plans, and interior details.
Prepare and review furniture, fixtures, and equipment schedules where applicable.
Develop detailed joinery, millwork, cabinetry, feature-wall, ceiling, flooring, and bespoke interior details.
Select appropriate materials, finishes, fixtures, furniture, fabrics, accessories, and decorative elements.
Research new materials, products, technologies, manufacturers, and design solutions.
Evaluate materials based on aesthetics, performance, durability, maintenance, sustainability, availability, lead time, and cost.
Develop comprehensive material and finish specifications.
Maintain organized material libraries, samples, product information, and approved design references.
Coordinate design development with suppliers, manufacturers, fabricators, and specialist consultants.
Review shop drawings, material samples, mock-ups, technical submissions, and fabrication details.
Provide design comments and approvals in accordance with project requirements and specifications.
Conduct design reviews and quality inspections during manufacturing, installation, and construction.
Monitor the implementation of interior design intent on site.
Conduct regular site visits and identify deviations from approved drawings, specifications, and design standards.
Prepare site observation reports, snagging lists, design clarifications, and corrective-action requirements.
Review contractor and subcontractor proposals for compliance with approved interior design requirements.
Support procurement activities by reviewing quotations, alternatives, substitutions, and supplier proposals.
Evaluate value-engineering proposals while protecting design intent, quality, functionality, and project objectives.
Assist with tender documentation, contractor selection, bid evaluations, and technical clarifications.
Coordinate with project managers and quantity surveyors to maintain design decisions within approved budgets.
Monitor design-related costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
Manage design deliverables, deadlines, dependencies, approvals, and project priorities.
Establish design schedules and coordinate deliverables with broader project programs.
Lead junior designers, interior designers, architects, draftspeople, and external design resources where applicable.
Allocate work, review deliverables, provide technical guidance, and maintain design quality across the team.
Mentor junior team members and support professional development.
Manage relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, and project stakeholders.
Present design concepts, recommendations, progress updates, material selections, and technical solutions to clients and senior stakeholders.
Incorporate client feedback while maintaining design consistency, feasibility, and project objectives.
Facilitate design workshops and stakeholder review sessions.
Maintain clear records of design decisions, approvals, revisions, and outstanding issues.
Ensure design documentation follows applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, fire and life-safety considerations, health and safety requirements, and relevant regulations.
Integrate universal design and accessibility principles into interior environments where applicable.
Incorporate sustainable design principles, environmentally responsible materials, energy-conscious solutions, and lifecycle considerations.
Coordinate lighting, acoustics, signage, wayfinding, artwork, graphics, and technology elements with specialist consultants where required.
Ensure interior environments provide appropriate functionality, circulation, ergonomics, comfort, and user experience.
Review completed installations and ensure spaces meet approved design standards and project requirements.
Support project closeout, final inspections, snagging, handover, and post-occupancy reviews.
Maintain design standards, templates, libraries, specifications, and best-practice documentation.
Monitor emerging interior design trends, technologies, materials, digital tools, and sustainable solutions.
Benchmark leading international design practices and identify opportunities to improve design quality.
Use digital design and visualization technologies to communicate design concepts effectively.
Ensure accurate use of CAD, BIM, 3D visualization, rendering, presentation, and documentation tools.
Maintain high standards of drawing accuracy, graphic presentation, documentation, and design coordination.
Identify project risks associated with design, procurement, materials, constructability, budget, and program.
Develop practical solutions to resolve design challenges while maintaining project quality and objectives.
Provide senior management with updates on design progress, risks, opportunities, quality, budget, and project performance.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should have strong experience in interior design, workplace design, hospitality design, residential interiors, commercial interiors, retail design, luxury interiors, or architectural interior design, preferably within a multidisciplinary design consultancy, architecture practice, developer, contractor, hospitality group, or international project environment.

The candidate should demonstrate:

Proven experience leading interior design projects from concept through completion.
Strong understanding of interior architecture, space planning, materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures, and detailing.
Excellent creative and conceptual design capabilities.
Strong technical knowledge of interior design documentation and construction detailing.
Experience preparing detailed drawings, specifications, schedules, and presentation packages.
Strong knowledge of joinery, millwork, bespoke furniture, finishes, and interior construction methods.
Experience coordinating interior design with architectural, structural, MEP, lighting, acoustical, and specialist disciplines.
Strong understanding of construction processes and site implementation.
