Role Summary:
The Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for identifying and evaluating risks associated with IMI's processes, and for preparing comprehensive audit plans, including audit programs, working papers and drafting internal audit reports.
The Senior Internal Auditor also ensuring tasks are carried out efficiently, professionally, and in compliance with the Internal Audit Manual and International Internal Audit Standards. Additionally, the auditor performs ad hoc duties as assigned by the Group Internal Audit Director (GIAD).
Key Responsibilities:
Audit Planning
- Plan and arrange for the Internal Audit planning meeting and agree with the GIAD on the audit approach and set the expectations for the audit assignment in line with the Internal Audit plan.
- Plan and attend the opening planning meetings with the Head of the Function under review.
- Draft the minutes of audit planning meetings and submit for approval.
Risk Assessment and Testing Strategy
- Carry out risk assessment works and prepare a draft register of risks assessment.
- Prepare the preliminary risk assessment exercise and discuss it with the team.
- Prepare the testing strategy and Internal Audit program to follow to achieve the objectives of the assignment.
- Prepare the detailed scope letter to be communicated to the Head of the Function under review.
- Update the audit plan, the risk register and the testing strategy if required.
Audit Execution
- Execute the internal audit works to verify the extent of compliance with the applicable policies, laws and controls.
- Ensure that sufficient testing is done for the internal controls identified during the planning phase. Confirm the conclusion on the internal controls effectiveness.
- Ensure that sufficient documentation is developed and filed for a sound understanding of the activity of the Function under review and sign off the working papers.
- Perform a detailed review and confirmation of the issues raised and the management response(s) and propose recommendations accordingly.
Audit Reporting
- Prepare internal audit reports and present the findings to the GIAD.
- Ensure that issues raised and documented in the working paper file.
- Ensure the utilization of proper wording in the report to avoid any confusion.
- Prepare the rating and prioritization of the points raised.
- Obtain and document the management comments in the report.
- Provide regular updates to the GIAD on the status of on-going assignments.
- Attend the closing meeting with the Head of the Function under review to discuss the issues raised and recommendations suggested.
- Prepare the issuance of the final report to the GIAD.
Follow Up Assignments
- Conduct follow up assignments at the Function under review to ensure the proper implementation of the corrective actions agreed upon in the report.
- Report to the GIAD on the status of implementation of the recommendations raised in the final reports.
General
- Contribute to the development of the Internal Audit Plan.
- Execute special assignments or investigations as directed by the GIAD.
- Ensure full compliance with the Internal Audit Manual and Charter.

- Fluency in both Arabic and English, spoken and written.

- Minimum of 7 years experience in the media industry or a Big 4 accounting firm preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in a senior audit role with exposure to a broad range of audits (IT, HR, Finance, Procurement, etc.).
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, or a relevant field; CIA or CPA certification is highly preferred.
