Senior Legal Counsel - Shipping

A large, internationally active group headquartered in the UAE is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with strong shipping and chartering expertise to join its legal function.

You will provide advice across shipping, logistics, chartering and related operational matters. The position involves close engagement with senior management and international subsidiaries.

Key responsibilities include:

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating charter parties and shipping contracts

• Advising on chartering, logistics, fleet operations and related commercial arrangements

• Managing and resolving disputes arising from charter parties and maritime operations

• Identifying and mitigating legal and commercial risk across international transactions

The role requires a pragmatic, solutions-oriented lawyer comfortable operating in a fast-paced, cross-border environment.

• Minimum 10 years PQE

• Qualified in the UK, US or recognised Commonwealth jurisdiction

• Experience in both a top-tier international law firm and in-house

• Strong background in shipping law, ideally with hands-on charter party expertise

• Skilled in drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements

• Experience handling shipping-related disputes

• Commercially astute, confident advising senior stakeholders
