Job Purpose
In this role you will lead proactive oversight of the entire Credit Administration process, develop and execute credit risk frameworks and policies, and ensure the bank's credit portfolio stays within defined risk appetites. You'll play a crucial role in monitoring, controlling, and minimizing risk exposure, ensuring compliance with internal policies, UAE regulations, and global banking standards. You will be a key advisor on risk areas, working closely with business and leadership to protect and strengthen the bank's financial risk position.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and approve all Credit Administration Department (CAD) activities, including preparation, review, authorization, registration, and custody of finance documents in line with credit policy, approvals, and legal requirements.
- Ensure lending documentation is accurate, complete, legally enforceable, and compliant with banking and regulatory standards.
- Oversee effective control and timely registration of loan collaterals and movable securities, ensuring risk coverage and compliance.
- Implement robust follow-up systems for expired documents, collaterals, limits, and compliance with covenants and deferrals.
- Report and present irregularities, exceptions, and key risk issues to relevant authorities and committees.
- Monitor adherence to the bank's credit risk policy and regulatory requirements; prevent adverse audit or examination findings.
- Recommend system enhancements, policies, digital automation upgrades, and process improvements to maintain a competitive edge and enhance customer experience.
- Efficiently manage credit documentation, limit & collateral administration, and collaborate with business units to solve process challenges.
- Liaise with credit underwriting, internal audit, risk units, and company secretary to clarify ambiguities and support audit processes.
- Take an active role in organizational projects related to credit, particularly digital automation and new product approvals.
- Ensure the implementation and compliance with comprehensive Credit Risk Management frameworks in line with local and international standards.
- Continuously assess early credit deterioration indicators and recommend timely risk mitigation actions.
- Analyze overdue reports, recommend downgrades, and escalate portfolio risk and early warning signals to senior management and risk committees.
- Conduct in-depth reporting on credit risk exposures, trends, and risk mitigations to senior leadership and the board.
- Oversee stress testing and scenario analysis to assess portfolio vulnerabilities under adverse market conditions.
- Maintain appropriate provisioning (ECL), ensure accurate credit risk reporting, and recommend effective risk controls for diversification and concentration risk.
- Suggest contractual clauses and covenants to safeguard the bank and ensure all documentation protects against credit loss.
- Lead and mentor the team on best practices in risk management, control, and compliance.
Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum: Bachelor's in Commerce, Business Administration, or related field
- Preferred: Master's degree or equivalent
- At least 10 years in credit risk management or related financial risk roles
- In-depth knowledge of UAE law and regulatory frameworks relevant to credit risk and banking operations
- Expertise in credit administration, legal documentation, collateral management, and credit risk framework implementation
- Skilled in early warning signal detection, credit risk assessment, stress testing, and scenario analysis
- Strong track record managing regulatory compliance, internal audits, and ensuring audit readiness
- Proficiency with digital banking tools, process automation, data analytics, and current risk management systems
- Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills, with ability to present to senior management and committees
- Demonstrated innovation in process improvement and risk mitigation strategies
