Senior Master Planning / Urban Planning Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Master Planning / Urban Planning Manager to lead the strategic design management of large-scale urban development and master planning projects in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will play a key role in translating the company's vision into comprehensive, implementable master plans that align with approved development briefs, planning regulations, and project delivery strategies. The role involves overseeing master planning deliverables across all project stages, coordinating closely with internal teams across feasibility, architecture, infrastructure, and delivery, as well as managing external consultants and design partners.

A strong understanding of planning frameworks and compliance with the Department of Municipalities and Transport Abu Dhabi requirements is essential, including experience reviewing planning submissions such as Vision Plans, PCMP, Framework Plans, CMP, and DMP.

This position also requires leadership in mentoring master planning teams, driving innovation in urban design, and maintaining high standards of design excellence. The role will regularly interact with senior management, presenting planning strategies, design concepts, and project updates while ensuring alignment with the company's long-term development objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Master Planning, or related discipline.
• Advanced degrees in Urban Design or Landscape Architecture are advantageous.
• 1215 years of experience in real estate design and development.
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in the Middle East, preferably within the UAE/GCC.
• Strong design portfolio demonstrating large-scale master planning projects.

Preferred Skills

• Extensive knowledge of urban design and master planning processes.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams across planning, design, and delivery.
• Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
• Proficiency in design and visualization tools including:
• AutoCAD
• Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign)
• SketchUp or Revit
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset.
• Fluency in English required; Arabic is an advantage.
