Senior Mechanical Engineer- 12 months contract

Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

To manage and supervise all mechanical engineering activities across various development projects, including townhouses, villas, and commercial buildings. This role ensures quality and compliance in the design and execution of mechanical systems, facilitates coordination between consultants and contractors, and represents the client's interests throughout the project lifecycle

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Act as the client's representative for all mechanical engineering works across assigned projects.

2. Coordinate with consultants and contractors to ensure mechanical systems are designed and executed according to project specifications, authority requirements, and industry standards.

3. Review mechanical design drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements for HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems.

4. Monitor site installation works to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to approved plans.

5. Ensure compliance with local authority standards and facilitate inspections and approvals (Dubai Municipality, DCD, etc.).

6. Attend project meetings, technical reviews, and site inspections; resolve conflicts and technical issues promptly.

7. Supervise testing, commissioning, and handover of all mechanical systems.

8. Identify design coordination issues and ensure integration with electrical and civil systems.

9. Track project progress and prepare regular reports for the Senior Manager MEP, highlighting key activities, risks, and delays.

10. Support procurement processes by providing technical input on equipment selection, tender evaluations, and material approvals.

11. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and correspondence related to mechanical works.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

Years of Experience

Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in the UAE on residential and commercial projects.

Nature of Experience

Prior experience in a similar role undertaking Planning, Scheduling, Design Calculations, Materials Procurement, site management & execution of MEP works.

Previous experience in client-representative or PMC roles is essential.

Strong knowledge of UAE codes, authority guidelines (Dubai Municipality, DCD, etc.), and international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.)

Technical Competencies

Mechanical systems design and construction supervision (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection).

Strong knowledge of HVAC and Plumbing principles, load calculations, and equipment selection. Familiarity with building codes, standards, and regulations related to HVAC & Plumbing system. Make recommendations to improve work process

KEY INTERACTIONS:

Key Internal Interaction

Coordination with Project team, design team and execution team for all HVAC & Plumbing issues related to project progress.

Coordination with Procurement team for all material procurement related issues.

Key External Interaction

Coordinate with Govt Authorities (FEWA, DEWA, DM, RTA, DCD and DU & Etisalat) for permit and approvals,
