- The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for leading the development, monitoring, and control of project schedules to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality delivery of projects.
- The role provides expert planning, forecasting, and risk analysis to support strategic decision-making and contractual compliance.
- Acting as a key advisor to project leadership, the Senior Planning Engineer translates complex project data into actionable insights, drives collaboration across departments, and ensures proactive mitigation of potential delays.
In addition, the role mentors junior planning staff and contributes to the continuous improvement of planning processes, tools, and methodologies, supporting the organization's overall performance and long-term growth.

Roles, Responsibilities, Duties
- Project Planning & Scheduling
- Lead the development and maintenance of comprehensive project schedules, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and strategic objectives.
- Prepare baseline programs, resource allocation plans, and cash flow projections to support effective project execution.
- Conduct critical path, scenario, and what-if analyses to anticipate risks and provide actionable solutions.
- Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities into a unified master schedule.
- Monitoring, Analysis & Reporting
- Monitor project performance against baseline schedules, identifying variances and recommending recovery strategies.
- Generate accurate and timely progress reports, dashboards, and executive presentations for leadership and clients.
- Provide early warning indicators of risks, delays, or resource bottlenecks to enable proactive management.
- Perform variance and trend analyses to forecast project outcomes and drive data-informed decisions.
- Risk, Claims & Compliance
- Support claims and Extension of Time (EOT) submissions by conducting delay analysis and preparing comprehensive documentation.
- Assess and manage scheduling risks, recommending effective mitigation and contingency plans.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, organizational policies, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready planning records for contractual and legal purposes.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, procurement, and subcontractors to validate and update schedules.
Education & Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Professional certifications such as PMI-SP, PSP, or PMP are highly desirable.
- Additional training in project controls, risk management, or contract administration is an advantage.
Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, and MS Office Suite.
Experience and Skills
Industry Experience (No. of years):
- Minimum 810 years of progressive experience in project planning and scheduling within the construction, infrastructure, facilities management, or engineering sectors.
- Demonstrated track record of managing schedules on large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects with complex timelines, resource demands, and contractual requirements.
Position/functional experience (No. of years):
- At least 35 years in a senior or lead planning role, with hands-on expertise in baseline development, resource loading, critical path analysis, risk management, and claims/delay analysis. Proven ability to mentor junior engineers, lead cross-functional planning teams, and advise project leadership on strategic planning decisions.
