Role Overview
We're looking for a product-minded, versatile Principal Software Engineer to design, build, and scale our AI-assisted legal drafting platform. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in our Dubai office, with administrative visa support for candidates looking to relocate. You will take true fullstack ownership—spanning frontend interfaces, backend services, and AI integrations—using a modern TypeScript stack to ship delightful, secure features from end to end.
What You'll Do
- Act as a product-minded engineer, influencing both the technical architecture and the product roadmap with pragmatic, user-first thinking.
- Take fullstack ownership of features, developing end-to-end user experiences from the React frontend down to the Node.js backend.
- Integrate LLMs and external AI services into robust, secure, and highly usable core features.
- Improve performance, scalability, observability, and security across the platform.
- Write clean, well-tested code; contribute to design docs and lead code reviews.
- Partner closely with product and design teams to understand the why behind the features you build.
What We're Looking For
- A strong product mindset—you care just as much about solving the user's problem as you do about the technical implementation.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping production systems.
- Deep expertise in TypeScript across the entire stack (Node.js and React/Next.js).
- Hands-on experience integrating AI/LLMs into production workflows.
- Strong understanding of API design and database modeling (SQL/NoSQL).
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP) and comfort with monitoring and debugging in production.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to thrive in a hybrid environment.
- Fluent in using AI as core to your development workflow.
- Fluency in English.
Nice to Have
- Experience in LegalTech, FinTech, or other compliance-sensitive domains.
- Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, RAG, or AI agents.
- Security-minded development (authn/z, secrets, least privilege).
- Event-driven design and queues/streams.
- Bachelors in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
