Job Description
WSP are looking to expand our successful Intelligent Mobility team in the UAE with the appointment of a Senior/Principal Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Design Engineer to join WSP's team in Abu Dhabi. You will support the Middle East Intelligent Mobility team, working on high-profile ITS projects across the GCC region. This role involves the design and implementation of ITS solutions, focusing on enhancing the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of transportation networks.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions for highways and tunnels, including Variable Message Signs (VMS), CCTV systems, vehicle detection systems, emergency call systems, Automatic Incident Detection (AID) and communication networks.
- Develop and design Tunnel ITS systems.
- Design and implement highway ITS solutions such as lane control systems, speed enforcement, and traffic monitoring systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ITS designs into broader transport and infrastructure projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and cost-benefit analyses to inform ITS design and implementation.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, specifications, and drawings for ITS projects, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to clients and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Design and develop traffic signalized intersections and traffic management systems as part of integrated transport solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in ITS technologies and standards to ensure cutting-edge design solutions.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure all ITS designs comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Participate in client meetings and stakeholder engagements, acting as a subject matter expert on ITS solutions.
- Develop ITS Concept of Operations (ConOps) for highway and tunnel projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in ITS design, implementation, and integration, preferably in Abu Dhabi or the UAE.
- Approved by ITC for ITS Works in Abu Dhabi.
- Proven expertise in ITS technologies, including tunnel and highway ITS, traffic signals, VMS, CCTV, vehicle detection systems, and communication networks.
- Familiarity with Abu Dhabi's ITS guidelines, regulations, and approval processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in an engineering consultancy environment is highly preferred.
- Professional certifications in ITS or related fields would be an advantage.
